September 9, 2001 Ran across two new reviews for "Crap-A-Doodle-Doo!" One being a standard "down with El Greco" review from Dead On The Web. The other being some sort of "positive" review from Toilet Humor.

August 2, 2001 Finally added some ICEWATER mp3's to the mp3 page. These are two of the first 4 songs written. Despite the prolonged downtime, El Greco is currently writing a whole new batch. We'll keep you posted.

August 1, 2001 Found some more reviews for y'all. First is another harsh one from an E-zine entitled, Splendid. And can you believe that they actually feel that El Greco and Fred Durst are comparable?! Eh?! The second happens to be a review of 6-Pack of Stank from a webzine called Intoxicated. Still not sure if it's a good or bad review...

June 20, 2001 Added a Reviews section so you all can read the wonderful things America's top critics have to say about El Greco. The latest entries are "somewhat" on the negative side. The first is from an e-zine called Satan Stole My Teddybear. He hated it so much he wrote a fucking novel about it. He also looks like this. The second is a bit more to the point. It's from a site called Geek America.

June 11, 2001 "Crap-A-Doodle-Doo!" was recently reviewed in Aiding and Abetting. It went as follows:
El Greco
Crap-A-Doodle-Doo
(self-released)

So I've listened to this album, and I still don't know what to write. El Greco is one guy, and he's got an Adam Sandler-esque way of meandering through the silly music of the last quarter century. Borrowing from a number of styles, including hip-hop, death metal and hipster rock (often in the same song), El Greco doesn't flinch from throwing a batch of crap into the mix.
His concepts seem better (and funnier) than the results. The bio in the press kit (which may or may not have been written by the man himself) is a scream. It's quite apparent that El Greco doesn't take himself or his music particularly seriously. This is a good thing.
Because for all of his efforts, the stuff doesn't sing. It's not terribly funny and I think it would be difficult to characterize any of his musical ramblings as "inspired" or even "particularly intriguing." In short, I got annoyed.
But I was curious enough to listen again, to hear if I missed anything. Couldn't find it if I did. El Greco isn't bad in the normal sense. He seems to be a creative guy with a lot of ideas to express. He's just expressing them in a way that I can't quite grasp. Maybe it's my fault. I always have to admit that possibility. There is, however, the other side of that coin. Maybe El Greco's admittedly far-ranging excursions just don't work so well.

May 24, 2001 For all of you who keep asking, "So what does ICEWATER sound like?" So far the closest description we've gotten is "imagine a more metal Karma to Burn with some nasal guitar moments and you're halfway there." Look for an MP3 or two in the near future. Also, El Greco recently did an interview for Experimental Taco Newsletter. Those who wanna read it can click here.

May 14, 2001 El Greco has written 4 songs so far for his new project entitled ICEWATER. A huge departure from the "folk" sound. But I guess that's what side-projects are for, right? We have also added a handful of new links. Go check them out and see where Greco gets some of his inspiration (and samples).

April 26, 2001 Added lyrics to "Crap-A-Doodle-Doo!" Including lyrics for The Supa-Dupa-Rap. Go check 'em out.

April 20, 2001 Pictures from the show at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit can be viewedhere, courtesy of Miss Leah Allor.

April 18, 2001 Some shots of El Greco's set from the Galaxy in St. Louis can be seen by going here. Plus a whole assload of shots from the BDF set. Thanks to Shannon Winter for posting those!

April 16, 2001 Well, the tour is officially over. El Greco is back in Chicago and wishes to thank everyone for coming out and not throwing bottles at him. According to Mr. Greco, highlights of the tour included Dallas, Birmingham, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, and Minneapolis. The new cd, CRAP-A-DOODLE-DOO! has been available for several weeks now. So if you didn't score one at a show, get one now.
In other news, 6-Pack of Stank was recently reviewed in Jim Santo's Demo Universe. Here's what he had to say:
El Greco
6-Pack Of Stank
(Date received: 1/6/2001)
Falling somewhere among Beasties, Jon Spencer, Captain Beefheart and an annoying drunk (and landing closest to the drunk), El Greco packs a whole lotta stank Ñ and fun Ñ into this cassette, the fifth in a series of releases stretching back to 1994. "Ge'in Hoopty Widdit," "They Call Me The Deuch (Part 2)," "Samples Don't Have To Make Sense," "Shut The Fuck Up" and a reverent cover of Skid Row's "18 And Life" are highlights of this lo-fi party favorite. Catch El Greco on tour in 2001 with Big Dumb Face, side project of Limp Bizkit's Wes Borland, a longtime friend and fan.

February 23, 2001 Check out the excellent review El Greco received in Eternal Frost Webzine:

EL GRECO 6-Pack of Stank
self-released (2000)
What the fuck is this!! Don't people realize this is an EXTREME METAL publication?! This tape is the shittiest of goddamn shit. I can't wait to smash this piece of dung to kingdom come with a hammer. . . Who wants to listen to some white guy try to act like he's black backed up by a badly-programmed drum machine emitting gay hip-hop beats? I know I don't. FUCK THIS GARBAGE!
Contact info? Who fucking cares!

Looks like people are finally starting to figure it out....

February 20, 2001 Yeah. Yeah. So it's been a month since we've updated anything here. Sorry. But hasn't Greco been keeping most of you posted in his drunken e-mails? Anyhow, we've added the tour dates to the "dates" section, and posted a more updated biography written by Mr. Shirilla. In other news, the new "EP" has been mastered and will be pressed very soon. It is tentatively title "Crap-A-Doodle-Doo!" and will contain cover art by the wonderful Jeremiah Ketner. Possibly, but not definitely, there might be some limited edition tour versions of this cd on sale at some of the shows. If this happens, it'll contain some outtakes that will never again be available. Once you hear them you'll know why. Plus, in case you aren't aware, this site can now be reached simply by typing in: ELGRECORULZ.COM. Nice, eh? That's all for now.

January 13, 2001 El Greco would like to say "Thanx" to all who wished him a Happy Birthday. He managed to get pretty wrecked the majority of the week. No real news for El Greco. Added a few new links though. Go check 'em out.
